How to Hold Space for Others Without Draining Your Energy

As a highly sensitive woman and empath holding space for another person is something you do with ease, it comes to you naturally.  Just because it comes naturally doesn’t mean it doesn’t come at a cost to you.

Your gift of sensitivity means you are able to connect with the pain of others very easily and why a lot of people feel so safe with you and share with you deeply, it also means that you feel their pain and this can have a detrimental effect on you and your energy.

This doesn’t mean you have to stop being your caring self, it just requires some strategic action.

Boundaries are something that my sensitive clients never want to talk about or implement, as it feels mean to them and without the ability to care for others – who are they?

So like I share with my private clients, there are many ways to still support others, hold space for them, whilst still honoring yourself as well.

One I am going to share with you in this article, is great and very powerful, and the person you are holding space for doesn’t even have to know.

The Golden Bowl

Holding Space

The golden bowl is a very easy yet effective strategy to protect your energy whilst still supporting and holding space for others.

  1. Envision a gold bowl that is sitting between you and the other person,
  2. What they are sharing with you, all the energy, emotion and pain will filter into the golden bowl
  3. This stops you from absorbing their energy and pain
  4. Leaving you open and free to support and hold space for them to express how they are feeling

Like the golden bowl, a sacred container to receive and transmute all energies that enter it.  Your energy needs to be viewed as golden and sacred, that needs to be revered and taken care of.

The golden bowl is always such a great reminder that you don’t have to do this alone, you are always supported, just allowing help to enter will see you being able to feel more energetic and vibrant.

I would love to hear your experiences with this exercise, just comment below.
